The Inclusion and Wellbeing Service supports over 500 children and young people with additional support needs right across West Lothian. The Inclusion and Wellbeing Service (Secondary) supports over 250 children and young people with a variety of additional support needs through a nurturing and inclusive approach for our children and families. The secondary team offer support across the 11 mainstream secondary schools in West Lothian to enable children and young people to support young people to achieve more than they believe to be possible through a wide variety of high-quality teaching and learning interventions.

The Inclusion and Wellbeing Service is made up of a team of 68 multi-skilled practitioners working with children across all 66 primary schools and 11 secondary schools in West Lothian. The service is led by a Head Teacher and three Depute Head Teachers and IWS Secondary is staffed by a highly skilled group of teachers and support staff.

Our secondary team is based in our Skills Centre in Whitburn and the team is part of the Whitburn Schools Cluster with the teaching and learning taking place in a wide variety of locations across the authority including our Skills Centre, West Lothian College, Community Centres and across our mainstream secondary schools. There is significant collaborative working opportunities and scope to learn from practice both locally and nationally as we strive to be a sector leading ASN service.

A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential.
