About St Mary's College Ipswich

St Mary's College Ipswich is a Catholic, all-girls school for Years 7 to 12, located in Ipswich, Queensland, in the south-west of Brisbane metropolitan area, 40 kilometres from the CBD. The college has a population of approximately 622 students, supported by 50 teaching staff.

The history of St Mary’s College goes back to 1846 when a school was established to cater for children from all denominations. In 1861, a dedicated school building was constructed on land acquired by the Catholic Church. It wasn’t until 1963 when the school acquired the assistance of teaching nuns from the Sisters of Mercy that the school was able to properly provide for its 180 pupils.
