Job overview

Code Nation is a private school that teaches software development and Cyber Security - bootcamp style. Our Cyber courses follow the same pattern as a software course courses and are either intensive 3 week courses or a longer 12 week immersive bootcamp .

We are expanding and have just opened for business in Chester as well as building a further 4 classrooms in Manchester.

We're going to Leeds next and then have plans to spread further down the country.

This role is based in Manchester.

Cyber is our newest offering, it's a broad subject but we focus  specifically around Cyber Security. If you have an interest in Networks, Cyber Intrusion, Secure Code and even GDPR - we would love a chat.

If you are a qualified teacher in either Computer Science, English, Maths or another mainstream subject but can evidence a love of software development, networks, all things Cyber Security and even ethical hacking we can do the rest.

Our current teaching staff all are active members of the software development community and regularly attend meetups, community groups and of course, code for love. We want to find somebody with the same passion but in all things Cyber.

You will have amazing communication skills and be a fast learner - our courses are all written but we will expect you to enhance them and make them feel like your own. Download our course brochure from the Code Nation website - www.wearecodenation.com to get a feel for what's in store.

We are a politics and bureaucracy-free organisation, we pay appropriate salaries for those who have our "futures" destiny in their hands and most of all - we love people who love people.

We teach people with little or no experience and transform them into work ready individuals who can thrive in a modern work environment. Our curriculum covers communications skills, we bring in expert yoga and mindfulness coaches as well as local employers hungry for talent. We teach more than just Cyber Security.

Our courses are fast-paced, they often start a little later in the day but continue a little later in the evening. Our teachers are not burdened with homework or marking but are expected to be constantly advancing our curriculum.

Personality and enthusiasm are of equal importance to us as your experience in Cyber or software development skills - bring your A game.

Please send your CV and a covering letter to our CEO using the email address : Andy@wearecodenation.com

About Code Nation Limited

We’re on a mission to prove that anyone (with the right attitude) can learn to Code or can become a Cybersecurity professional

Code Nation was set up in 2017 by Andy Lord (Founder and CEO of the ReThinkGroup) and David Muir (Tech investor and ex partner from Big 4 PwC and KPMG) .

Code Nation is a coding and cyber training company offering education with a difference. We utilise short courses and immersive learning longer experiences to rapidly and effectively upskill our students. We cater for private payers, scholars or business sponsored apprenticeships.

Every business is digitalising, whether that's tech companies expanding, business models changing to move online, business processes becoming more efficient using tech, changing functional process through Robotics / AI / Data or new ways of engaging with customers using AR / Analytics / Apps / Voice…the common denominator for all this change is skilled coder/developers in what’s referred to as the 4th Industrial revolution, industry 4.0.

Demand for those skills is increasing at a phenomenal rate (Government predictions are c.1m skills short in the UK by 2020). We spoke to business around their challenges and the feedback was clear - there’s a gap in the UK for skilled people and we need to create more and fast;

- We need the technical skills i.e. more coders / cyber / data scientists in key locations

- There aren’t enough skills out there so we need to create more now and we need the education solution to be quick

- We need more than just technical skills though, we need talent that is work ready with enviable communication skills and a winning attitude.

CN was created with a passionate desire to make a difference and create employable talent business would actually employ.

Technical skills

We have multiple courses - iOS App development over 3 evenings / Develop your coding skills over 3 weeks / Master your coding skills over 12 weeks / Develop your cyber skills over 3 weeks and  'Master' for Cyber Skills launching in July, 2019

Locations

We are present in 2 locations currently; Our Manchester Academy with 4 classrooms, Chester with 1 classroom currently and a further 3 opening in H2 2019.

We are opening in areas of business demand, including;Cambridge, Trafford, Leeds, North Wales, Sheffield, Nuneaton, Nottingham, Cardiff, Bristol, Reading, London, Belfast and  Glasgow .

Locations will be stand-alone Code Nation facilities or co-located with business partners, including Colleges and Universities throughout the country

Education solution

We’ve developed a unique way of identifying, engaging, challenging and inspiring talent from a pool most organisations haven’t yet considered...and it can be delivered using the apprenticeship levy; whether re-skilling talent in the business or attracting and building new talent. We cover so much more than technical skills, we train in softer skills to make our graduates work ready, including presentation skills, peer programming, mindfulness, yoga, nutrition etc.

We’re all about relevance and being current so we are always working with business to help reshape our curriculum and we offer the opportunity for our pledgers (business supporters) to network together…if someone joins our course as a scholar or private payer we help place those students into work and are proud to have a 96% employment record.

Our People

We have two levels of "teachers" in our facilities - Senior Instructors and Instructors.

Our Senior Instructors are qualified teachers with experience of working in a modern teaching environment.

Our Instructors more often than not come from our own graduate pool - students who love what we do so much they want to stay with us and help share their new found knowledge with the next cohorts.

We are a really nice, bureaucracy free organisation with very high standards and we are lovers of compliance. Our immersive learning style means that we produce rapid results so we employ people who enjoy working at pace.

We laugh a lot.
