Teaching ServiceCoffs Harbour Public School is a vibrant K-6 school located on the Mid North Coast. The school has an enrolment of 498 including 16 % students from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait students and 36% are from a language back ground other than English. Coffs Harbour Public School is committed to providing a caring, tolerant and supportive educational environment. There is a strong literacy and numeracy focus in line with our Early Action for Success strategy. Our school's Family Occupation Education Index (FOEI) is currently 161. The school has seen an increase in students from refugee backgrounds and supports these students with differentiated and supportive interventions. The staff is committed to a learning community where classroom practice is examined in a focused, systematic, purposeful and collective way to provide high quality teaching and learning. Coffs Harbour Public School has 26 classes, 5 of which are special education classes. The parent community is engaged in the school and has high expectations of teaching and learning.
1. Approval to teach special education and/ or experience teaching students with mild to severe intellectual disabilities, autism, mental health needs and challenging behaviours.
2. Demonstrated excellence in evidence based classroom teaching practice and the ability to develop, implement and evaluate high quality, differentiated programs and individual learning to meet the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
3. Highly developed management skills which enhance student engagement and the development of social skills through enriched, differentiated and individualised learning programs.
4. Highly developed organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to work proactively and collaboratively as part of a team including parents/ carers, school learning support officers, students, external agencies and the wider school community.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
