Position Information 

Bardia Public School (Years K-6) has an enrolment of 835 students, including 80% students from a non-English speaking background and 3% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. Every teacher at Bardia Public School undertakes research of evidence-based practice, particularly research pertaining to student self-regulation, visible learning, guided inquiry and structured dialogue. Selected practice is evaluated in the classroom by teacher teams who then lead professional development for their peers.

At the commencement of 2019 the school occupied new facilities that include innovative learning environments. Teaching and learning at Bardia Public School is evidence based, complements 21st Century learning and is transitioning to a 1:1 ICT device ratio. The school has a four-class support unit for students with autism.

Specific Selection Criteria 

Approval to teach special education and/or a high level of expertise and demonstrated success teaching students with special needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder and intellectual disabilities, particularly in AU/IO settings.

Quality classroom practice and highly developed management skills which enhance student engagement through enriched, hands on, differentiated and individualised learning programs, underpinned by student interests.

Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively, proactively and professionally with colleagues, parents, carers, school learning support officers, support agencies and the wider community.

A high level of commitment and experience in working with individual students, setting a culture of high expectations with the development of holistic teaching and learning programs that support the success of all students.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
