Teaching ServiceHomebush Boys High School is a comprehensive boys high school (enrolment 1093 students) with a proud tradition of strong academic achievement and excellence in the fields of sport and the creative arts, and many opportunities for extracurricular activities. We are highly multicultural in nature with over 90% of students having a language background other than English. More than 50 cultural and language backgrounds are represented in our school population. We have a focus on maximising student learning outcomes with a continuing commitment to literacy and numeracy. Our school staff is experienced and committed to engaging boys in meaningful learning experiences. The school has a strong reputation in the community and continues to build educational networks to further the opportunities for students. We are establishing a Support Unit for 2021, consisting of 3 Autism support classes. The Role of the Support Class teacher will be to support students with ASD and teach the core KLA’s and support resource development in these areas. They will also be involved in helping establishing the direction of the unit. Demonstrated ability to differentiate teaching based on identified needs through the development of Individual Education Programs (IEPs) that engage students in their learning and enhances student outcomes.
Experience in delivering innovative programs across all Key Learning Areas, including the development of future focused learning techniques, including technology into teaching and learning.
High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to liaise with staff, parents, community and support networks.
Demonstrated classroom management skills in working with students with autism, a capacity to implement positive behaviour support strategies and a strong commitment to inclusive practice within the Support Unit and the whole school setting.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
