Position Information 

Whalan Public School has a current enrolment of 420 students with a preschool and 4 support classes. Aboriginal students make up 25% of the student population and 36% of students come from language backgrounds other than English. The school applies principles of Positive Behaviour for Learning, with high expectations for student engagement and achievement. 

Specific Selection Criteria 

Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience teaching students with Behaviour Difficulties, Autism Spectrum disorder and other complex support and learning needs.


Demonstrated ability to design engaging learning programs and differentiate the curriculum to promote learning and independence.


Experience in designing, implementing and monitoring personalised learning and support plans to meet the learning needs, goals and interests of students through engaging learning programs.


Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to communicate, liaise and work with colleagues, families, community and service providors to improve learning outcomes for students.


An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
