Selection Criteria:

  • An ability to work within the ethos of a Catholic Primary School and participate in the Catholic Parish
  • Accreditation to teach RE in the Wagga Wagga Diocese (or working towards) and a commitment to the Catholic Faith
  • Experience and willingness to work collaboratively with staff members, teachers, parents and students
  • Effective classroom practitioner with a demonstrated understanding of differentiated learning.
  • Team orientated with the ability to plan and teach in partnership with fellow teachers
  • Understanding and ability to use resources like technology, Chrome books, google apps, iPads, smartboards to enhance student learning
  • Other qualities or skills that you could bring to our school

St Joseph's Primary School is a co-educational, Catholic, Kindergarten to Year 6 school located in the regional city of Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, 468kms southwest of Sydney. The school has an approximate population of 200 students supported by 13 teaching staff.

On January 25, 1886, the St Joseph's School, also known as the St Joseph's Hall, opened under the direction of Sisters Aloysius, Mary Alogue, and Mary Alphonsus of the Presentation Order. In January 2008 the majority of the school was destroyed by fire but has since been fully reconstructed with modern well-equipped buildings.

Facilities

Facilities at the school include: two covered open learning areas, a 21st century library funded with support of the federal government’s Building for the Education Revolution program, and two new tennis courts that are used for a variety of sports and play.

Curriculum

St Joseph’s Primary School adheres to the outcomes identified by the NSW Education Standards Authority and executes them within a Catholic education framework. Religious Education lessons are taught daily, with teachers following the diocesan Religious Education Syllabus program 'Sharing Our Story'. Students are also taught the six key learning areas: English, Mathematics, Creative Arts, Science, Human Society and its Environment and Personal Development, Health and Physical Education.
