St Mary’s Primary School is a Catholic, co-education, K-6 primary school located in the village of Yoogali on the outskirts of the city of Griffith in the Riverina region of south-western New South Wales. The school began operating in1949 by the Sisters of St Joseph who remained in charge of the school until the first lay Principal was appointed in 1994. For a short two-year period, a secondary school operated on the site but it folded in 1966. Today the school is seen as a school founded on Faith and has a student enrolment of 143.

Facilities

In 2009 the entire school of St Mary’s Primary was completely redesigned to create contemporary teaching spaces that facilitate flexible learning. The school is now very much a technology rich environment where each learning space throughout the school, gives students access to the most up to date resources to support their efforts to achieve their full potential. An outstanding library that is promoted as a major learning hub at the school is a prominent feature whilst the school playgrounds are spacious and well maintained and feature a number of undercover shade areas.

Curriculum

In addition to a comprehensive Religious Education Program, the school provides challenging student focused learning in the six key learning areas of the NSW Board of Studies Curriculum. Also, in addition to the core curriculum, the students at St Mary's are immersed in the learning of the Italian language via the services of a specialist teacher. With a school wide focus on the enhancement of students skills in Literacy and Numeracy, the promotion of creativity, adaptability and inquiry is clearly evident in all teaching and learning activities in these two priority areas.
