Job overview

The school is looking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic individual to the position of Teaching Assistant to support teachers and students in any designated year group. The successful applicant will ensure that every child is able to gain the most from their education by supporting them with their additional needs in order to maximise their learning as required. We are looking for creative candidates who will make a big impact in the life and learning environment of our pupils. As a specialist TA for English, you will also have to work with the English department to plan and deliver support and intervention to develop students’ literacy skills. The successful applicant will have a keen interest in working with children and in supporting and developing their learning.This is a fixed term contract pending review of how the school will provision support for English at the end of academic year 2018/19.  As TA3s our teaching assistants can be called upon to provide cover at times. 

As a member of our successful Teaching Assistant team you will have good interpersonal skills, be flexible and focused on the needs and wellbeing of the child. You will be a team player with a ‘can do’ approach to work and a good sense of humour.

The closing date is midnight on Monday 4th June.

Shortlisting will take place on Thursday 7th June, and interviews are scheduled to take place on Tuesday 12th June.

About Balshaw's Church Of England High School

Balshaw’s is a mixed, comprehensive, Church of England secondary school without sixth form situated in Leyland, Lancashire. It is a community state school operating under the Diocese of Blackburn. An average-sized school, it will provide 925 places for students aged 11-16, when fully subscribed.

Balshaw's was founded as a charity school in Leyland in June 1782 by Richard Balshaw. It moved to its current Church Road site in September 1932. Although the school has no official sixth-form, it works closely with nearby Runshaw College, which was originally set up in 1974 to cater for school-leavers from Balshaw's and Parklands High School.
