Job overview

Trinity Academy Sowerby Bridge

Teaching Assistants

Term time plus 5 days. 30 hours per week

Sc2. Actual starting salary: £11,845.57 per annum

Trinity Academy Sowerby Bridge is a new academy within Trinity Multi-Academy Trust, which joined the trust in October 2018. Although the academy has recently transferred, the trust have been supporting the academy for over 12 months to ensure the team behind the success of the flagship school, Trinity Academy Halifax, work to replicate their successes in improving the outcomes for children and young people.

The GCSE results in the summer of 2018 were a validation of the work which we have already undertaken in the academy. We have improved our Progress 8 outcome by +0.92 in our first year in the trust (from -0.47 in 2017 to +0.45 in 2018). The results our students obtained means the academy can now be recognised as one of the most improved schools in the country. However, we are determined not to rest on our laurels and are always looking for ways to better serve our students.

All of these fantastic and exciting initiatives require the expertise and commitment of dedicated staff and Trinity Academy Sowerby Bridge is currently looking to appoint Teaching Assistants. The teaching and learning support provided by the Learning Support team is crucial to the success of some of our most vulnerable students. Working under the direction of a classroom teacher you will provide classroom based support to a range of students, including those with Special Educational Needs.

Knowledge or experience of working in an educational setting is desirable but not essential, and you will also possess the skills to work within a small team.

What can we offer you?

• An opportunity to be involved in the transformation of Trinity Academy Sowerby Bridge

• Full support from a dedicated team of senior leaders and a large pastoral team

• Career progression and cross-trust working

• A range of staff benefits, including a Cycle to Work scheme, reduced cost health cover and childcare support.

You must be fully committed to optimising the opportunities that are available to children and young people, secure in the knowledge that you will be joining an ambitious forward-thinking Academy Trust that sets the standards for our family of schools and academies.

Start date: As soon as possible

Closing date: 9.00am on 25 March 2019

Interviews: tbc

The Trinity MAT were first approached to work with the then Sowerby Bridge High School, when it had been graded as inadequate by Ofsted and had been ranked in the bottom 15% of all schools nationally.

After joining the MAT in 2018 the progress made has been outstanding. The academy has improved its Progress 8 outcome by 0.92 and the performance puts us comfortably in the top 1% of most improved schools in the country.

In September 2021 we will be adopting the new name of Trinity Academy Grammar to better communicate our identity, high standards and aspirations for our students. We have chosen a name which truly reflects our grammar school heritage, and to better showcase our core values of Empathy, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility, as we continue to build on this legacy through our outstanding achievements and passion to help our students reach their full potential.

It is a very exciting time to be considering joining Trinity Academy Grammar.  We can offer candidates the opportunity to work in partnership with the Principal and the senior leadership team, teachers in the school and other professionals across the trust (including the Teaching School and West Yorkshire Maths Hub).

The working environment is supported by committed, hardworking and supportive colleagues who are focused on improving outcomes for our students. Comprehensive pastoral systems are embedded to ensure the behaviour of students is outstanding and they are happy and supported in their learning.

As an academy we have high expectations of staff, we expect staff to challenge our students and themselves. We set high standards and aim to display these in all that we do. Working for Trinity Academy Sowerby Bridge is rewarding, we can offer a fantastic environment, excellent CPD programmes and a range of opportunities to progress.
