Your new school will be outstanding and a leading light for our young people and their families.

About the role

Working as a Teaching Assistant at The Wenlock School you will enhance the learning environment for our pupils, supporting our teachers to promote personal development and well-being for all. You will help setup the classrooms, lead on small parts of lessons, keep accurate records to track pupil progress and contribute to lesson planning. It is essential you are aware of pupil progress and able to flag potential concerns. Safeguarding the welfare of the young people in our care will be your primary responsibility. Experience of working in an SEN setting would be an advantage but not essential.

Who are we looking for?

You will be working with young people who have complex needs and your ability to develop trusting relationships with the young people and staff will be crucial. The ability to contribute to the development of our ‘Outstanding’ school is essential and we believe that energy, passion and a commitment to high standards are key characteristics required.  We are looking for a special individual who is able to help inspire and re-engage the young people that we serve.  This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their skills and experience in a challenging, motivating and highly rewarding environment.

The Wenlock School offers an outstanding and therapeutic educational approach with a staff team dedicated and determined to support every individual. Our custom built school has been designed with specialised facilities, creating a unique environment, which will help our learners re-engage with their education supported by a personalised and purposeful curriculum. We will also embrace a raft of initiatives with personalised targets to ensure every child can make excellent progress, appropriate to their specific needs.  Many children come to us with very complex needs, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviour. We always look beyond the issues and potential barriers to learning and recognise the innate potential within. We invest time with each individual child to recognise and understand their learning needs so that we can put in place the right support package. Our expectations are very high for both behaviour and achievement, because we know that we can help children make much more progress than they would within a mainstream school environment
