Grange Primary School in South Ealing are looking for a teaching assistant to support a boy moving into Year 5 This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and successful mainstream school.  You will be supporting the child who has a diagnosis of Social Communication Difficulties, on a 1:1 basis.  The pupil is friendly and demonstrates a desire to learn once directed with his main areas of difficulty being communication, social skills, attention and listening and sensory processing difficulties.  The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, calm, meticulous, caring and professional, with an aspiration to further the child’s learning opportunities and independence. An understanding of, and interest in the difficulties experienced by children with Autism and/or Social Communication Difficulties is essential. You will need to be creative with teaching the curriculum to engage and motivate the child, who is keen to learn and is progressing well through school. A level of empathy, patience and effective behaviour strategies is also essential to support the child in his daily school routines.    The child’s social communication and emotional needs are delayed, but are developing rapidly so both need to be encouraged and supported throughout the school day. Activities and strategies directed by the child’s Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) and the Autism Outreach will need to be implemented.  Good communication skills are essential, so lessons and activities can be well-planned as well as a high-level of involvement with the child’s class teacher and parents to discuss progress and daily reports.  Grange Primary is a two minute walk from South Ealing tube station and is a modern well equipped building with friendly and supportive staff and parents.  We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
