Job overview

 Longdon Park School opened in June 2015. We are a co-educational day school catering for pupils aged 7-18 with complex educational needs, communication difficulties and challenging behaviour primarily with a diagnosis of ASD. We provide a therapeutic, supportive and inclusive learning environment where our young people learn to accept responsibility for their actions, make positive decisions and display pro-social behaviour. We are committed to raising achievement and enabling pupils to recognise their potential and supporting them through a personalised, engaging curriculum. Our priority is to develop the foundation knowledge and skills required to make a manageable and smooth transition to the next life stage.


We require a new Teaching Assistants with relevant qualifications and experience to work across all key stages, supporting pupils with 1:1 needs. The successful candidate(s) will support access to learning for students and provide general support to class teachers and other education staff in the management of pupils and the learning environment. Work may sometimes be carried out outside the main teaching area including off site locations and therefore you will be required to have business insurance and use your own car from time to time. Longdon Park School will pay for the additional cost of this insurance. 


It would be an advantage to have experience in planning and leading parts of lessons within the classroom setting. The ability to contribute to the development of our growing school is essential and we believe that energy, passion and a commitment to high standards are key characteristics required. 


We are looking for outstanding individuals who are able to help re engage the young people that we serve. Experience in working with pupils who have a diagnosis of autistic spectrum disorder would be an advantage. This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their skills and experience in a challenging, motivating and yet highly rewarding environment.
