Job overview

Claycots School Partnership is seeking to recruit a teaching assistant with responsibility for children with additional needs due to social, emotional or behavioural issues. This role will be based at either campus depending on the pupil needs.

You will promote the use of the school’s behaviour policy and work with class teachers to support children to remain calm and on task in class. You will work closely with the SENCO and other professionals to ensure that children receive the right support to pre-empt any difficulties.

With support from the SENCO, you will be responsible for supporting children with individual behaviour plans, running social skills groups, and supporting children on the playground at playtime and lunchtime. You will also support teachers with detention duties. You will develop a working relationship with children who need support, and track progress over time towards agreed goals with support from the SENCO.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years’ experience working with challenging children in a school setting. You should hold NVQ level 2 in Supporting teaching and learning in schools, and you should be able to demonstrate a good level of ICT skills as you will be required to input data as part of your duties.
