Catmose Primary is a successful, oversubsribed primary school which was rated as Good in all four categories and overall by Ofsted in 2017, and which is moving rapidly towards Outstanding.

We stream for Literacy and Numeracy in KS2 and Phonics in KS1, enabling pitch, pace and progression in key areas of learning.  We have introduced a Creative Curriculum, focusing on knowledge, understanding and skills; enabling pupils to follow their own learning pathways, making learning real and purposeful.

Each afternoon we offer a range of electives which offer all of our pupils opportunities to explore and develop an interest in sport, culture and the arts.

The School is federated with Catmose College and is led by a very successful SLT comprising of an Executive Principal, Head of School, four Vice Principals and a Chief Finance Officer.  This is an exciting time to join the Primary and shape its future as it develops within the Federation.

Although Catmose Primary forms part of a bigger organisation and benefits from better IT, site and catering services, our School retains its unique, family-centred approach, making us extremely popular in our local community.

Situated in Rutland, the School serves the county town of Oakham and its surrounding villages. Although located in a rural area, the School is only 20 miles from the urban centres of Leicester, Peterborough and Nottingham.  Our intake reflects the full ability range. There is a 4 – 11 pupil population of around 210.

We wish to develop staff who are reflective practitioners, continuously committed to evaluating the quality of the service they offer. The Governors are actively involved in the work of the School and are generous in the amount of time they give to help to plan and support this work.
