Job overview

Teaching Assistant

The Matthew Arnold School (part of the Bourne Education Trust ‘BET’) is looking to appoint enthusiastic teaching assistants. Experience is desirable but not essential; what is essential is a commitment to the progress and well-being of all children irrespective of background and need. In the first instance this will be a fixed term post for two years as The Matthew Arnold School will be running two offsite SEND specialist provision centres, in Ripley and Molesey, opening in September 2022 until August 2024.

Both centres are being established to temporarily meet the increasing need in Surrey for specialist places while a permanent solution is created to open in September 2024. Each centre will cater for between 30 and 50 year 7 and year 8 students, each with an Education and Health Care Plan (‘EHCP’). You will work closely with the Headteacher of The Matthew Arnold School, the Head of Centre and with the staff of The Matthew Arnold School, including the staff of the other specialist centre.

You will also benefit from a network of support from working within BET, having access to a range of SEND expertise within the Core Team and Board of Trustees, as well as belonging to a cluster of schools within the Trust, some of which also run specialist provision.

For further information about the role, please view the application pack. Interested candidates should complete our application form and which can be accessed using the ‘apply now’ function and sent to Makella Hall, Head’s PA.

The closing date for applications is midday on 1st July 2022, however candidates are encouraged to apply promptly as we reserve the right to close the advert early. Shortlisting will take place as applications are received.
