Job overview

We are a small family run independent school for students with special educational needs aged between 11 and 16 years old. As we are a SEN school so have students with various educational  needs as well as looked after children who all present with different challenges. Most of our students have an ASD diagnosis coupled with various SEMH needs. Therefore experience of teaching and managing the behaviour of LAC children and children with special needs is preferable. The school is part of a busy equine yard which forms part of our education for our students which is managed by our Equine teaching staff.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic support worker to join our team. The successful applicant will be required to support students within lessons, support student behaviours through interventions and use interventions to deliver educational support. Any training and experience delivering various interventions would be useful but we are always looking for training opportunities for all our staff to improve the support we can offer to our students. Some small group support work may be involved with you leading a group for reading activities or supporting students on planned sessions with skills they need to develop.

We look for applicants to:

  • Have some experience working with LAC children and children with special needs.
  • Have some experience of managing challenging behaviour in LAC children and children with special needs.
  • Uphold our positive Behaviour strategies and help students to improve their behaviour in a positive manner.
  • Be Available to provide sickness cover where needed and to attend additional training or meetings which may be arranged outside of school hours.
  • Be willing to take additional training
  • Be flexible within their role depending on needs of the school and students
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and to promote the wellbeing of students at all times

We review candidates on receipt of application and we will interview applicants prior to the job closing.
