The Forum School, who have been proudly been awarded Safeguarding Initiative During COVID-19 is part of the Cambian Group, one of the largest providers of specialist behavioural health services for children in the UK. Our school is a 38-52 weeks school and home for children and young people diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other associated disorders in the heart of the Dorset countryside.

As a key part of the dedicated teams we allocate to every child, you’ll have a vital role in helping children learn and develop skills for life.

Job Profile:

You will work as part of a team under the direction of a teacher/tutor assisting students to access a specifically designed curriculum through group learning and individual learning programmes.

The main focus of this role will be to:

· Support students to focus and make progress in lessons

· Assist the teacher/tutor in the preparation of work

· Support students during school based and community based learning

· Ensure students make progress in formal learning situations as well as with self-help skills, life skills and social understanding

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will have:

· A Teaching assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)

· Knowledge of autism and/ or Special educational needs

· Well-developed organisation and communication skills

· Ability to work flexibly in relation to tasks undertaken

· Ability to be a good team player

Experience not essential, we will give you all the training and support necessary.

Successful candidates will have to meet the person specification in order to be offered this post.

Fully supported 6 month probationary period- You will receive a mentor and line manager to help you get the best start to your career at The Forum School
