Job overview

In this varied role, you will  teach a high standard of subjects and provide support to various departments. Leading groups with the teachers – from lesson planning right through to the delivery of your sessions and subsequent homework and assessment – you will also work individually with pupils who need extra one-on-one attention. As you won’t be teaching a full timetable, you will also be involved in other aspects of school life – from supervising out-of-school activities and leading after school clubs to covering lessons for colleagues, this is a multi-faceted role that will keep you on your toes.

This is a fantastic way to get the experience you need to really prepare for teacher training if you ultimately choose to follow that path. As a result, you will need fantastic time-management, IT and communication skills, which will be fully utilised during your interactions with pupils and any feedback on lessons and their behaviour.

With a first or second class degree, you will combine your energy and enthusiasm to really promote our ‘no excuses’ culture, helping us to fully achieve our ambitions to drive student success.

What we offer as a school:

  • Clear purpose. We are all here to make a real difference to students lives
  • An environment in which student behaviour is exemplary
  • Year groups of 120 students. We are a small school and pride ourselves on knowing our students
  • Weekly in-school CPD
  • External CPD programmes
  • Opportunities for promotion and development

We currently have 240 students, years 7 and 8. In September 2018, we will have 360 pupils.  We will continue to grow each year until we are at full capacity, 720 students including our Sixth Form. Whether you are an experienced administrator looking for a new challenge, or someone seeking your first role, you will play a key part in the School’s development.

If you align with our vision, values, and are committed to ensuring that ‘disadvantaged’ does not dictate educational outcomes, then you will greatly enjoy working at Goresbrook.
