We have an opportunity to join the Faculty of Maths and Science to work as a science technician with a chemistry specialism, alongside technicians for Biology and Physics. The Faculty was awarded Grade 1 in the Ofsted inspection in 2014. We deliver a range of Maths and Science courses at Levels two and three, with excellent progress and success rates. As well as supporting the chemistry team in particular you will also work as a team of technicians to support other sciences within the faculty including geology and environmental science. 

The technician team is experienced and supportive and the chemistry team have a strong commitment to sharing ideas and resources. You will be directly supporting teaching staff and also have the opportunity to support and demonstrate practical techniques to students where appropriate. You will also work closely with the faculty coordinator, ordering chemicals, equipment and other resources. The Faculty is based in the new purpose-built Maths and Science Centre including three large chemistry labs, a preparation room and a chemical store, arranged over the top floor of the building. 

You will be an effective communicator and team member with the IT skills to support your work, as well as having the technical background for the role as described in the Job Description. We are looking for a motivated worker with initiative and a strong desire to work in an educational setting; supporting teaching staff to enable learners to develop the skills required for their chosen progression routes. Future opportunities such as mentoring an apprentice may be available to a suitable candidate.
