Job overview

A leading International School in North London areas requires a Technology Support Specialist to join the current IT team ASAP. In order to be successful, the candidate must have knowledge and on-site experience of Windows 2012 / 2008 servers, Mac OS, Windows platforms, and (Windows 10 and Windows 8) network infrastructure. Experience and understanding of the ICT needs of a school would be an advantage. This position would suite a local IT graduate, living within 30 minutes travelling time from the school.

As part of a planned and agreed work schedule undertake a range of ICT functions to include:

  • Install and test new software & hardware
  • Make sure anti-virus and system security measures are operational & functioning
  • Support staff, student and users through setting up emails & any shared/individual files etc
  • Undertake regular checks of all ICT equipment making sure equipment is ready to support learning
  • Carry out routine maintenance, troubleshooting and identification of faults
  • Undertake initial repairs, calling on colleagues via the email for more technical  diagnosis/repairs where needed
  • Maintain computer hardware, IPADs and peripheral equipment such as scanners, printers, projectors etc ensuring that these are prepared and ready for use
  • Be familiar with, and develop understanding of, the network infrastructure
  • Keep a log of technical faults, repairs and other information as requested to support the Director of IT in system need & usage analysis 
  • Undertake tasks in response to helpdesk queries and as allocated
  • Assist in server and networking infrastructure maintenance
  • Provide ICT support for events, including setting up and dismantling hardware and during the event, including those outside of normal working hours as agreed with line manager
  • Ensure that personal professional practice is fully compliant with health and safety policies Build knowledge of the network/infrastructure in order to widen knowledge and skills within the team and at operational level to ensure that servers running critical applications are routinely monitored and maintained
  • Build knowledge of ICT systems which support educational support services, including iSam, Google docs, to widen knowledge and skills within the team and to assist the Director of IT with any updates or annual rolling programme needs and procedures and legislation. 

Essential skills: 

  • Windows Servers, platforms, software etc
  • Microsoft Certifications are desirable & UniFi  AP
  • Call management, escalation, fix & Sonicwall Configuration experience
  • Troubleshooting bespoke software including a number of cloud based software 
  • excellent customer service and customer management skills 
  • a can do attitude as well as Website scripting experience 
  • Able to think outside the box, solve problems and learn from every new case
  • Advanced Active Directory and Google Admin experience
