Reporting to the Group Accountant, the Assistant Finance Business Partner will be responsible for providing finance support to Business Support departments. The contract is expected to last 3-4 months, and will involve a handover from the incumbent who leaves the College on 30th November. The contract will then continue until a handover to the permanent replacement has been completed. The successful candidate must have proven experience of learning new skills and processes at pace.

Gaining an understanding of the Agresso finance system will be key to success in this interim role. Agresso is a powerful system, with the relevant modules for this role being General Ledger, Purchase Order requisitions, Accounts Payable and fixed assets.

The focus of the role will be assistance with the preparation of month end management accounts. Areas where journals will have to be calculated and posted include a review of overhead costs for non curriculum departments, capital / project costs and trading subsidiaries inc intercompany. Month end cost reports for the IT and Estates departments will also be required.

The role is also responsible for the maintenance of the Agresso system, including amendments to cost centres, account and project codes. Extensive experience of learning new systems is a necessary skill for this role.

The permanent role involves extensive liaison with non curriculum departments including Estates and IT, and is an outward facing role. Support will be provided by other members of the Finance team for this aspect of the role, although the successful candidate will be responsible for answering queries from budget holders which will usually involve interrogation of the Agresso system. The role will provide support to budget holders with preparing an annual forecast which will be required in the spring term.

In addition to technical accounting and excel skills, experience of using a complex finance system in a medium or large organisation is essential.
