Hours: 37 ½ hours (including weekends and bank holidays)

24 days holiday plus bank holidays

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding individual to the post of Theatre Manager at The Old Rep Theatre. This is a unique opportunity to lead on key aspects of this iconic, historic theatre at an exciting time in its development.  The Old Rep Theatre has been operated by the BOA Group since 2014 as a Theatre for Young People.

The Theatre Manager will ensure the smooth running of performances, the building and finances while constantly promoting the BOA Group’s values, aims and objectives.

The Old Rep was built in 1913 and was home to the Birmingham Repertory Company, who staged numerous prestige productions, many of which have been landmarks in theatre history. Situated in the heart of Birmingham, the theatre plays host to the BOA Group as well as some professional and amateur companies. The theatre is a vibrant space and the vision of a theatre for young people run by young people, has always been at the heart of BOA’s operation of this venue. The theatre is mainly a performance venue for students and backstage studios allows space to be used for both classes and rehearsals.

The chosen candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of customer care and service within the theatre and will act as Theatre Manager during both daytime and evening shifts. They will manage the Front of House team and all operational matters relating to the Theatre.

The academy is looking for:

• An articulate, eloquent and numerate individual, with excellent interpersonal skills.

• A track record of success within the field of theatre.

• A strong interest in the performing arts and arts education with, for and by young people

• A commitment to the BOA Group and its aims and objectives in regard to the Old Rep.

• The ability to communicate the vision, effectively and persuasively, to the staff and public.

• Ability to motivate and to inspire.

• Experience of management including producing, technical and financial resources as well as project and staff management.

• Experience in managing organisational change.

• Strong leadership and communication skills.

• A collaborator willing to work across the BOA Group and in partnership with artistic, creative, technical, administrative and educational personnel.

• Experience in a similar role within a theatre, educational performance setting or live event venue would be ideal.

• A proven track record of leading a team of people.

• A dynamic and energetic self-starter.

• Clear knowledge and experience of current practices employed in the live events industry.

• Knowledge of Health & Safety practice and legislation applicable to the stage and live event production industries.

• Experience of engaging with students / young-people.

• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple demands on time

• Flexible approach to working hours.

• Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
