The Theatre Technician role will support teaching and learning in the Creative Arts and Performing Arts Departments. The Theatre Technician will assist with the running and maintenance of the theatre on a day to day basis and take specific responsibility for managing and maintaining theatre resources. It is essential that you have relevant experience of working in theatres or other live performance environment, together with the technical experience detailed in the job description.

You will have strong time management skills, the duties that you will perform during a working day are often unsupervised. Although you will be advised by, and work closely with teaching staff for the Theatre: helping to set up for college events and performances, ensuring spaces are tidy, safe and fit for purpose and taking responsibility for the lighting, AV and prop stores, for the sound room and for the first-line maintenance of equipment.

You will also assist with the supervision of students and staff in the safe use of equipment, rigging and installation, and will be asked to provide technical ‘show cover’ for theatre performances and other public events (for example, College events and public events), therefore a degree of flexibility is required for this post.

The successful candidate will have a good level of education; ideally with subject related qualifications.

Candidates will also have a good knowledge of Safeguarding and Prevent.
