Trainee teacher - Business /Economics. Required September 2021

We are looking for personable Business/Economics graduates with good degrees to join this highly successful and innovative co-educational school. We offer a unique 3 year programme of fully funded teacher training, a starting salary of £22,560 per annum (currently under review), together with free on site accommodation and free meals in term time.
The programme provides high quality training as follows:
Year 1: Graduate Teacher.
During your first year as a Graduate Teacher you will be given a range of opportunities to experience all aspects of teaching in a professional and vibrant school setting. In the classroom, on a much reduced timetable, working closely with your mentor and Head of Department, you will have the opportunity to teach your own classes and observe a range of outstanding practitioners across a variety of subjects and key stages. You will also work closely with colleagues in the department of your chosen subject area, building subject-specific knowledge and pedagogy. INSET courses will help build confidence in, and awareness of, teaching and learning practices.
Year 2: PGCE
Those Graduate Teachers who show the commitment and promise of developing into an outstanding practitioner during their first year of training, will be offered the opportunity to be sponsored through their PGCE year by the College. This is a school-based course, closely guided by a mentor, as provided by Sussex University or similar provider. The teaching load will increase and further responsibility will be given for teaching your own classes. Structured support will still be in place and weekly mentoring and observations will continue. To widen your teaching experience beyond the Independent sector, a placement in a State School will be organised.
Year 3: NQT
During this year, NQTs have greater autonomy and responsibility in their teaching, but a safety net of mentoring, observations and INSET remains in place.
If you are excited by this opportunity, please contact Michelle Zeidler, the Director of Professional Development at Hurstpierpoint College, at teach.hurst@hppc.co.uk to express your interest and to find out more.
