This is an exciting opportunity for a Chemistry graduate to develop a career in teaching within a thriving Science department. Your strong communication skills and ability to inspire others will be further developed, delivering enthusiastic and engaging chemistry lessons that enable pupils to fulfil their potential in the sciences. We will offer full support within school and can also arrange for you to undertake a part-time PGCE while you are teaching.
If you are able to inspire endeavour, confidence and ambition in our pupils we would like to hear from you. No teaching experience is required but a Chemistry or Chemistry-related degree with high honours is essential. Equally important will be your willingness to participate in the life of the school, including co-curricular and pastoral commitments. We will therefore be looking for additional interests (possibly sporting, musical or dramatic activities) within your application.

Welcome to Emanuel. We are a fully co-ed school of over 1000 pupils, aged 10-18, with over 200 teaching and support staff colleagues.
We are an ambitious community. This summer, 87% of grades at GCSE were awarded 9-7, which is a lift of 37% across recent years. Our A Level A*-A percentage is 53%. This is 20% higher than in 2018 and the school is now recognised as one of the best for academic outcomes in the country. The recent ISI Inspection report noted that: “Pupils make excellent progress across the range of subjects and significant value is added to their academic outcomes.”
We are committed to developing all our major sports and value pupil participation as well as team and individual achievement. The school’s critical build plan will see a significant investment in our on and off-site sports facilities across the next 3-4 years. The same site plan will support the outstanding creative and performing arts teaching at the school, as the school’s plans for a large specialist science teaching block will also allow us to improve our facilities for music and drama, both areas of traditional strength. We were delighted that these areas were recognised in last year’s Independent School of the Year Awards when we won the award for our performing arts.
Beyond the classroom, we have a thriving partnerships programme, helping to develop our pupils at all ages as they participate in this work, and benefiting the local community, with over 1000 primary school children coming to use our site and work with our pupils each month. In 2021 we won the Independent School of the Year Award for our community outreach work.
