Trust Director of Humanities

Required for January  2019

Leadership Spine

This is a Permanent position

‘The calling of the humanities is to make us truly human in the best sense of the word.’

J. Irwin Miller

Cheadle Hulme High School is the founder school of the Laurus Trust, a new multi-academy trust in the North-West of England.  The vision of the Trust is for everyone regardless of background or circumstance to be inspired, to thrive in all environments, to recognise what it takes to succeed, to set aspirational goals and work hard to achieve them.

CHHS is a hugely oversubscribed school with a reputation locally, and further afield for outstanding teaching and learning through the relentless pursuit of excellence and determination to ensure that every child succeeds.

In the list of secondary state schools, CHHS is in the top 20 non-denominational comprehensive schools nationally. This is a fantastic achievement for students and staff and particularly for the Sixth Form, celebrating only its fourth set of A level results.

We were judged Outstanding in every single category by Ofsted in 2011 and 2015. The 2017 results for CHHS put us in the top 3% of schools nationally (based on the 'Progress 8' performance measure), which is the highest rating in Stockport and shows CHHS outperforming many schools throughout the Greater Manchester region.

A training school for thirteen years and a Teaching School for a further six, CHHS is home to the Altius Alliance centre of excellence providing School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) for teachers of students aged 11-16, judged Outstanding in 2017.

You will be joining a team of ten trust directors who work across our schools. Our leaders passionately believe in creating a supportive culture where all our staff can develop and thrive.  We actively promote flexible working opportunities.

Our staff tell us “It is a privilege to work at CHHS. I feel that our hard work is recognised, valued and appreciated by the leadership team and opportunities to further develop professionally are promoted and encouraged'' (Head of Science, CHHS)

In 2015 our Ofsted report stated:

  • Leaders at every level share a passion for students to succeed and for the school to be a beacon of excellence within the community
  • Staff at the school are extremely well led
  • Staff remarked “not only are the students looked after, so are we”

If you relish in the opportunity to join us at an exciting time for learning and development as we expand and open new schools in the Trust and have the passion, commitment, drive, and determination to work with a highly ambitious and successful Trust, then we would like to hear from you.

To apply, complete the application form below by clicking on the ‘Quick Apply’ button (CVs are not accepted).

Deadline for applications: 9am Friday 21st September 2018

The Laurus Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.
