St Pius V, Banyo, situated 14kms north east of the CBD and 10 minutes drive from the airport, is a co-educational primary school established in the tradition of St Mary of the Cross Mackillop, with a current enrolment of 500 students. Our learning environment is state of the art with modern, contemporary classrooms conducive to learning. Our facilities include a pool, multi-purpose hall, basketball / netball court and oval set in spacious gardened surrounds. Our welcoming community proudly lives out our motto 'Live, Love, Learn'.
We are seeking a suitably experienced person to oversee the operations of the school tuckshop.
The position entails coordinating all aspects of convening a school tuckshop including menu selection, ordering of stock, preparing meals, rostering volunteers and counter service.
In particular, you will need to have a good understanding of the Food Safety Act, including its implications in a school environment e.g. nut awareness and the safe handling of food, to ensure that the procedures and practices of the tuckshop comply.
Hours of work are 30 per week term time. This entails the tuckshop being open on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for service and using Tuesday for preparation.
Key responsibilities and skills:
• Demonstrate excellent organisational and inter-personal skills
• Ability to work under pressure as part of a team
• Liaise with the Principal regularly to convene the tuckshop in conjunction with the school financial secretary
• Oversee the financial management of the tuckshop
• Maintain the current menu
• Order supplies and liaise with food wholesalers
• Prepare food for tuckshop
• Recruit, supervise and train all volunteers
• Facilitate a volunteer induction program for volunteers and manage a volunteer parent roster on a weekly basis
• Ensure the safe delivery and storage of food
• Implement school procedures i.e. nut awareness and safe handling of food etc
• Be able to set and establish an on-line ordering process and liaise with providers
• Ensuring the procedures and practices of the tuckshop comply with the Food Safety Act 2006
• Support school activities such as sporting events held at other venues e.g. sausage sizzles
• Observe workplace health & safety practices within the tuckshop
• Ensure the tuckshop is maintained and cleaned to a high standard
• Uphold a commitment to confidentiality across all aspects of the school and volunteers.
To be successful in this role you will:
- have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education;
- hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement; and
- be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.

Salary Level, Range or Hourly Rate: Services Staff Level 2 - $28.16 per hour
Employment Conditions: Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement
