Job overview

Freshsteps Independent School is an OFSTED graded ‘outstanding’ independent alternative provision. The school currently caters for pupils aged 5-16 years who have an EHCP with a primary focus on their social and emotional needs. Our school is expanding and opening its sixth form hub for our SEMH learners in September. We have an exciting new opportunity for a fashion and design teacher for our sixth form intake in September.

You could play your part in inspiring the next generation of fashion designers. This is an exciting opportunity to boost the skills and self-esteem of young people, teaching and assessing in both practical and theoretical environments. Our students are eager to learn and excited to gain a valuable trade qualification.

We have a great opportunity for an inspirational individual to be part of our friendly curriculum team delivering a curriculum that is innovative, creative and ultimately prepares learners for their next step. We have wonderful learning facilities that mirror the working environment. We will fully support you in starting a new career, including providing you with mentors, bespoke training and a manageable timetable that eases you into the role over a period of time. We want you to make a success of this role because you will get so much out of it.

You will normally have a relevant Level 3 trade qualification and relevant industry experience in teaching fashion and design.

A relevant teaching qualification in DT, Art and Design or Textiles would be highly advantageous.

Freshsteps is committed to safeguarding and protecting the children and young people that we work with. As such, all posts are subject to safer recruitment process, including the disclosure of criminal records and vetting checks. We ensure that we have a range of policies and procedures in place which promote safeguarding and safer working practice across the school. Offers are subject to satisfactory references.
