Farleigh FE College Frome, North Parade, Frome, Somerset, BA11 2AB

Hours Various - term time only

Due to the expansion of our educational provision we are seeking to appoint Tutors for a range of subjects including IT, Maths and Science.  We are able to consider both full and part time options.

Farleigh Further Education College Frome is an independent specialist residential college for young people aged 16 to 25 with autistic spectrum disorders, Asperger's syndrome and associated complex needs including behavioural difficulties.

The college has eight residential houses in the community each with its own identity, working ethos and dedicated team of staff. This provides learners with the opportunity to experience independent living in a range of different settings.

We aim to provide every young person with an individually tailored programme of education, care, work experience, leisure and life skills and training within the community, to enable them to live as independently as possible.

Our dedicated team of staff create a safe, secure and independent living environment where our learners have a sense of belonging within their group and a sense of ownership of their home. Our approach enables young people to develop the confidence and skills they need to progress towards adulthood, including further or higher education and sustainable independent living in the community.

As a specialist provision our Tutors deliver a range of qualifications from foundation level courses to A level.

Tutors provide tuition for small groups of young people, which allows for full engagement and ensures that the programme of learning meets the needs of the individual. With a student centred approach, we are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment within which young people can flourish.

Candidates should have a passion and commitment for providing creative and high quality learning experiences. With a dynamic and inclusive approach you will have high expectations for our learners and a drive to help them achieve the best possible learning outcomes.

As a skilled practitioner you will have an empathic approach and the ability to be flexible and adapt to individual needs.

Our educational team are based at North Parade in Frome. This newly refurbished listed building provides a central hub for our College community. Based in the heart of Frome town centre it provides an excellent location for accessing all that this diverse town and surrounding area has to offer.

Applicants should have a recognised teaching qualification. Experience of working within a SEN environment is desirable and in particular an understanding of ASD. However, we would also welcome applicants who are keen to develop skills within specialist provision and can provide support and training.

“Trainers have devised and delivered a wide range of appropriate training to all teaching and support staff to help them manage learners’ challenging behaviour. As a result, staff deploy more effective interventions to manage learners’ behaviour. Staff are positive about how this has helped them work with the complex needs that learners often present.”
