Collegio San Carlo  is a a historic yet innovative school . Founded in 1869 , the San Carlo  Community has always been an active member of Milan's history and the events of the past month have underlined these values more than ever. 

The "Intercultural Program" now runs from K - Yr 13, catering to five different streams of High School ( including IB DP) , catering to 2000 students and involving 200 members of staff. 

The main objective of this  program is to enrich the curriculum established by the Italian Ministry of Education through content and activities taken from other international curricula and to deliver 50% of the subjects in the English language.

Each Intercultural class is co-taught  by a team of  English and  Italian  teachers. Subjects required to be taught by the English teachers are: English , Geography and STEM .  There are bilingual or mother tongue specialist teachers for Art, PE and Music too.  

The school  has developed  cross curricular projects in Coding, Robotics and Augmented Reality.  

ROLE SUMMARY

Primary school teachers develop schemes of work and lesson plans in line with curriculum objectives. They facilitate learning by establishing a good relationship with pupils, by their organisation of learning resources and the classroom  environment.

They develop and foster the appropriate skills and social abilities to enable the optimum development of children, according to age, ability and aptitude. They assess and record progress. They link pupils' knowledge to earlier learning and develop ways to encourage it further. Primary school teachers challenge and inspire pupils to help them deepen their knowledge and understanding.

They are able to teach all areas of the primary curriculum,take responsibility for the progress of a class, organize the classroom and learning resources to create a positive learning environment plan, prepare and present lessons to include the whole ability range, maintain discipline, prepare and mark to facilitate positive pupil development, provide feedback to parents on a pupil's progress at parent meetings, work with others to plan and co-ordinate working  with flexibility ,are up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum, are willing to take part in school events and activities as a Community.

The following qualifications, experience and skills are required:

  • At least 3-4 years of teaching at Upper Primary level 
  • Strong/specialised in  STEM subject area 
  • Bachelor’s In Education 
  • Recognized Teaching Qualification (PGCE or similar)
  • Believe and support team work
  • Fluent English speakers 
  • Knowledge of Italian a plus
  • Experience and training in Coding and  Robotics and teaching of STEM subjects
  • Must also hold an EU passport or valid working papers for Italy
