Job overview

Pimlico Academy is 10 years old. We are looking for a dynamic individual with a strong academic background to lead all aspects of teaching and learning at Pimlico Academy; someone who believes deeply in the power of education to transform lives; someone who knows what a full and rounded education looks like; someone who accords with our vision and will be restless and relentless in their determination to fulfil it.

You will be responsible for leading the teaching and learning within the school by way of the development and implementation of a teaching and learning strategic plan to ensure whole school improvement.

You will have significant leadership and management experience of teaching and learning, particularly with an academic curriculum.  In addition, you will possess experience of using tracking and monitoring to drive higher achievement, together with strategic thinking and motivation to ensure that Pimlico Academy continues to be an innovative, high achieving and ambitious learning environment.

The successful candidate will have exceptional communication skills with a view to driving the meaningful development of teaching professionals.  This person also needs to be able to lead all aspects of the teaching and learning life of the school, evaluating curriculum options, leading a performance culture of teacher success, and reflection for improved future practice in conjunction with the Future Academies Curriculum Centre.

At the heart of our vision for Future Academies is a commitment to help young people succeed irrespective of their background or starting point, founded on three principles: knowledge, aspiration and respect. Each of our schools are unified by these principles and they underpin our curriculum, our commitment to educational enrichment, and our aspirations for students. Our knowledge-rich curriculum sits at the heart of what we do, and it is what makes us distinctive as a multi-academy trust. This is because we believe that a good education offers young people both freedom from economic and social disadvantage, and freedom to think and reason about their lives. When students leave our schools, we believe that they should have gained an education that gives them the opportunity to choose the kind of life that is meaningful and fulling for them. In this sense, the Future Academies motto ‘Libertas per Cultum’ (Freedom through Education) is the clearest expression of our vision for education.

We can offer you:

  • A chance to help lead a knowledge rich school with the highest aspirations and standards.
  • The opportunity to work within an innovative and ambitious family of schools.
  • The opportunity to work with enthusiastic, hardworking and happy pupils.
  • High quality facilities with excellent resources.
  • Access to the Trust Future Leaders programme.
  • The expertise and support of colleagues across the Future Academies Trust.
  • A location easily accessible by train, tube and bus.

You will be:

  • Committed to our knowledge-led curriculum and support our educational vision.
  • An inspiring leader with energy and creativity to lead and motivate a team, with a strong track record of developing excellence in others.
  • An outstanding teacher and a strategic leader.
  • An ambitious and dynamic school leader.
  • Dedicated to making a significant difference to the lives of our pupils.

To apply:  Please send the completed employment application form and letter of application to recruitment@pimlicoacademy.org  or visit our websites at www.pimlicoacademy.org

About Pimlico Academy

Pimlico Academy is a mixed ability non-fee paying school for 11-19 year olds. The academy opened in September 2008 and is sponsored by Future Academies. The academy became an all-through school, 3 to 19, from September 2013 when the first Reception class started at our on-site primary school, Pimlico Primary.

The academy has improved rapidly since taking over from the predecessor school and was judged good by Ofsted in December 2021. The percentage of students achieving 5 GCSE 9 -4 grades with Maths and English has improved from 36% to 69%. 90% of students achieved A*-C at A Level in 2016.

The distinguishing factor at Pimlico is our determination to provide pupils with the same standard of education that is on offer at the best independent schools and to ensure all pupils leave the academy as culturally literate young adults. The academy’s sponsor has established The Curriculum Centre to develop and implement a knowledge-based curriculum. We have an excellent Raising Aspirations programme, extensive extra-curricular provision, academic intervention tutors and a wide array of support to enable students to reach their potential.

We employ only very well-qualified staff who are committed to knowledge-rich education and embody a determination to ensure every pupil at Pimlico is hardworking, articulate, literate, ambitious, independent, confident, courteous and compassionate.
