Job overview

Christ’s College is a proud 11-18 provider of Christian education, serving a large urban community in Guildford, Woking and the surrounding areas. We believe a great values-driven education has the power to transform our students’ futures and we seek to live out our core values every day.

The school is part of The Good Shepherd Trust, a well-respected and growing Guildford diocesan MAT currently made up of 13 schools.

Christ’s College is a good school (March 2018) with clear potential to become ‘outstanding’ in time. Nevertheless, the school is facing an immediate challenge in addressing a recent 3 year decline in student outcomes.

A new Principal and MAT CEO (both appointed during 2018) come equipped with a proven track record and capability in delivering outstanding outcomes. They are keen to strengthen the SLT with the appointment of a standalone Vice Principal who can provide strong evidence of high-quality leadership and impact in the areas of Teaching and Learning and Curriculum development.

Applications are invited from motivated and inspirational leaders who are eager to develop their leadership and contribute towards continuing to move our school forward.

Key areas of responsibility will be aligned to the strengths of the successful candidate. You will be given full support in career development as we believe the development of staff is a key aspect in raising standards for our students.

If you are ambitious, hard working and enthusiastic then our school and MAT will provide you with the rewards you are looking for.

Closing date: Monday 21 January at Midday

Shortlisting: Tuesday 22 January

Interviews: Tuesday 29 (eve) and Wednesday 30 January (All day)

About Christ's College Guildford

Christ’s College is a thriving school serving the non-Christian and Christian community of Guildford, Woking and the surrounding areas. We are proud of our Church heritage which has helped us to create an environment that is inclusive and supportive of all. Our aim for the children at Christ’s College is that they should develop the Core Values of Service, Respect, Stewardship, Co-operation and Love. We know that success only comes through hard work and perseverance; life can be difficult, and therefore we all need resilience, but we need to work with optimism and believe that our hard work will open up great opportunities for us.

Over the last few years Christ’s College has continued to grow. We have seen a significant rise in the percentage of children gaining 5 or more GCSEs. We are determined to build upon our high standards and ensure that students at Christ’s College achieve excellent outcomes.

Pupils are rightly proud of their successes nationally, for example winning a national handball competition, and winning the University of Manchester’s Alan Turing cryptography competition.

Pupil’s personal development is promoted effectively and staff care deeply about their wellbeing.” (OFSTED report October 2022)

Outcomes are significantly improved year on year, with structures and processes in this area implemented to secure sustainability and continuous improvements.
