Responsibilities

At Jockey Club Sarah Roe School (JCSRS) our continuous school improvement cycle ensures we provide a joyful and inclusive learning environment that values partnerships with families and the community. We have an enrollment of 70 students who have additional needs including autism and complex needs. Age range is 5-19 years. Our school was accredited with the Council of International Schools (CIS) in 2015. It is one of four special schools in the world to gain this accreditation.

Our committed and experienced staff work as a professional learning community to ensure every student can be the best they can be.

An exciting position exists as Vice Principal at our school. We are seeking a student centred, collaborative and values driven person to make a positive contribution to our senior leadership team and our learning community.

The successful candidate will
- Build capacity in others and make a significant contribution to developing and inspiring our team of educators, therapists and support staff through a focus on learning for all, collaboration and student learning outcomes
- Take a lead role in our school improvement cycle (including the Council of International Schools reviews) by building on our current programs and processes
- Lead and support processes and procedures to ensure alignment and consistency in the planned, delivered and assessed curriculum
- Coordinate the development of the vocational education, inclusion and community learning programs
- Contribute to our professional learning community to enhance well-being for all
- Coordinate high quality events
- Nurture positive relationships between students, staff and stakeholders
- Commit to on-going professional learning and development

The recruitment process is coordinated through a central HR function at the English Schools Foundation (ESF) centre. Preliminary interviews will be via an online video recording system. Final candidates will be invited to Hong Kong for interviews.

Requirements

Applicants must have SEN leadership experience, preferably experience of leading a special school, a professional teaching qualification, a post graduate qualification in SEN, fluency in English and a desire to contribute to education with high expectations.

About The Jockey Club Sarah Roe School - ESF

ESF Jockey Club Sarah Roe School (JCSRS) is an English-medium school supporting students with a wide range of learning needs. The age range is from 5 to 19 years. 

Through generous support from the Hong Kong Jockey Club, we offer our students some wonderful facilities to keep them happy, engaged and always learning. We have a range of specialist rooms including a hydrotherapy pool, soft playroom and sensory integration room. All our students require additional learning support and our personalised, progressive and challenging curriculum offers students multiple opportunities for repeated, hands-on experiences. We offer six curriculum pathways, which start with foundations such as school routines, building social, communication and academic skills, and go on to offer further steps focusing on life skills, self-motivation and independent living. The Post16 Pathway develops vocational and independent living skills. During the students’ final years with us, our team works with them and their families to explore options following graduation. 

JCSRS is conveniently located in the Ho Man Tin area of Kowloon. We have a wonderful community feel and our students benefit greatly from being able to take part in inclusive programmes with other ESF schools. Sarah Roe, the late local Occupational Therapist who the school is named after, would be so proud of what our school has achieved since its establishment in 1986.
