Job overview

The Governors of Bradford Forster Academy wish to appoint an experienced and talented senior leader to a brand new post to join our vibrant and wonderful school community.

Bradford Forster Academy is at a pivotal point on its journey to becoming a world-class school.  We are determined to reach this goal.  We have the highest aspirations for all of our students.  Bradford Forster Academy is a new, successful, oversubscribed 11-16 Church of England academy with 745 students on roll with Y7, 8, 9 and 10 due to grow to Y11 in September 2019.  We are a diverse, comprehensive, inclusive school rooted in the local community.

We are absolutely committed to providing the very best education for our students and we are seeking to appoint a strong candidate to this role who has the right skills set, values and attributes.  You should share an unswerving commitment to raising standards across all areas of the school for all groups of students.  You should be able to deliver on the full brief of a Vice Principal.  However, we are looking for a candidate with a strong background in Inclusion, Behaviour and Attendance, and ensuring that ‘provision’ meets the needs of our most complex students.   You will understand that your role will evolve over time.

Your track record to date should clearly evidence the impact that you have had as a senior leader in shaping whole school culture, as well as in raising achievement.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for a number of key strategic whole school areas as well as be required to effectively carry out the full range of day-to-day operational duties.  You will be expected to readily build positive relationships with students and to enjoy working alongside them and their families in order to ensure that they thrive and achieve.  You should genuinely revel in working with young people.  Outstanding teaching and learning lies at the heart of every successful school and we place a high premium on this.  You will be required to teach as part of your role.

We are seeking to appoint a person who:

  • Has an outstanding track record in educational leadership with proven success and demonstrable impact
  • Is able to think strategically, analytically and creatively about learning and teaching and have the personal authority and communication skills to make a difference
  • Has the vision, imagination and commitment to be part of a team that takes the academy to ‘outstanding’ and beyond
  • Is committed to the continuous improvement of people and systems.

We will only appoint the right candidate to join the Senior Leadership Team here at Bradford Forster Academy.

To apply, please complete and submit an application form with a supporting statement on no more than 2 pages of A4.  You will need to state:

  • How your skills, knowledge and experience match the academy’s requirements for the post of Vice Principal
  • Your strategy for developing excellence at Bradford Forster Academy over the next 5 years.

Do let us know which subject you would prefer to teach on your interview date.
An application pack can be downloaded from our website at:   www.bradfordforsteracademy.co.uk/Vacancies/

Visits to the academy can be arranged by contacting: Karen Kirkpatrick on 01274 019501 by Monday 21st January 2019. In addition, the academy is holding a recruitment fair on Tuesday 22nd January from 4.30 – 6.30pm, which will give you the opportunity to meet the senior and middle leadership team and the opportunity to look round and ask questions.

Please note that the deadline for applications is Monday 28th January 2019 by 9am.

The interviews will take place on Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th February 2019. (Please ensure you are available to attend on these dates).
