Job overview

Applications are welcomed for the position of Vice Principal (Administration) at North London Collegiate School (NLCS), Jeju. Working closely with the wider Senior Team, you will ensure we continue to provide the very best educational provision for all our students.

NLCS Jeju opened its doors in 2011, established in partnership between North London Collegiate School, UK and the South Korean government. The school – with its excellent outcomes, dedicated staff and world-class facilities – has proven to be an extremely popular choice with parents and is currently expanding its Junior school in response to heavy demand for places. GCSE and IB results are formidable; four students gained a perfect IB Diploma score of 45 in 2018. It is an exceptional education based on high academic standards and a deep commitment to providing a well-rounded education. Students matriculate to some of the best universities in the world.

The successful candidate will have a strong philosophy, a track record of exceptional classroom performance, and will understand the needs of an ambitious, selective day and boarding school. You will be emotionally intelligent, culturally curious and able to build credibility with a high-performing staff, academically excellent student cohort and aspirational parents. You will share our ethos, values and commitment to ensuring that every child receives the support they need to fulfil their potential. Amongst the many responsibilities assigned to the role, you will lead on accreditation processes, work with NLCS UK to quality assure provision across the whole school and assume overall responsibility for the recruitment of teaching staff.

The school is set in a striking location. Jeju Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 130km off the southern coast of the Korean peninsula, is often described as one of Asia’s best kept secrets. With its temperate climate, stunning natural scenery, array of rare and endangered wildlife and welcoming beaches, it is a fascinating and breathtaking environment in which to live. Educational provision on the Island is of strategic importance and in receipt of significant investment, attracting families from Busan, Seoul and farther afield.

We provide first-class professional development both through NLCS Jeju and the established NLCS educational community. This is an exceptional opportunity to develop your career in a leading international school.

NLCS Jeju was the first NLCS International School to open its doors in 2011. It is located on the island of Jeju, in South Korea, but its proud heritage is from the United Kingdom, where in 1850 education pioneer Frances Mary Buss established the North London Collegiate School.

In just a few years NLCS Jeju has earned a reputation as one of the most prestigious and successful schools in East Asia. IB Diploma results are outstanding and the school’s graduates are attending some of the world’s leading universities, including Oxbridge and Ivy League colleges.

In keeping with the NLCS philosophy, the curriculum is aspirational and provides significant academic challenge for students. Students sit iGCSE examinations at the end of Year 11 and follow the IB Diploma Programme through Years 12 and 13.

NLCS Jeju offers a highly competitive salary and benefits package including accommodation, flights, health insurance and free places at the school for teachers’ children.

Location

The school is located on the picturesque island of Jeju, in South Korea, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also the first international school to be opened as part of the Global Education City on Jeju Island, which is becoming the centre of English education in Korea and the pre-eminent educational hub of Asia.

Jeju Island, 130km off the southern coast of the Korean peninsula, is often described as one of Asia’s best-kept secrets. Jeju’s temperate climate, natural scenery and beaches make it a popular tourist destination for South Koreans as well as visitors from other parts of East Asia.
