The College is now a  full Years 1-13 (K-12) school with over 1,350 primary and secondary  students offering the International Baccalaureate PYP, MYP and Diploma  programmes. Vice Principal - Secondary (Starting Apr 2019)

Responsibilities

Discovery College is searching for a dynamic, highly-skilled educator to fill the position of Vice Principal - Secondary.

The  role of the Vice Principal is vital in ensuring the highest quality of  learning and teaching across the sector. Vice Principals assist the Head  of Secondary in leading the sector, and contribute substantially to  planning, recruitment, strategy, and the development of people,  professional learning and organisational culture.

Main Accountabilities
•  Foster innovation, bringing new ideas forward about how to improve the  College’s provision for its students, and encouraging innovation in  others
• Ensure the proliferation of evidence-informed practice, including by utilising data to drive reflection and improvement
•  Lead an aspect of the College’s programmes according to a coherent,  forward-thinking set of educational values that stem from the College’s  vision and its relationship with the IB Mission
• Take collective responsibility for decision-making and the College’s key developmental agendas
• Represent the College in a variety of community contexts, including by contributing to cross-foundation initiatives
• Work closely with the parent community to build understanding of the College’s programmes and practices

Opportunities
•  To play a key role in the strategic development of the Secondary  sector, alongside the Head of Secondary and fellow Vice Principals
• To further a culture of evidence-informed practice throughout Secondary
• To lead Secondary in undertaking the Visible Wellbeing initiative, in partnership with Professor Lea Waters
• To access high quality professional leadership development opportunities through ESF and across the Asia-Pacific region

Requirements

Minimum Typical Education
Bachelor  Degree in Education, or Bachelor Degree in a teaching subject with PGDE  (Postgraduate Diploma of Education) or equivalent

Minimum Typical Experience
5 years teaching experience within a recognised educational organisation; significant experience in a prominent leadership role.
