Vice Principal

Responsibilities

South Island School seeks to appoint an outstanding teacher and experienced leader as Vice Principal. The successful applicant will join a strategic leadership team consisting of the Principal, two other Vice Principals, two Phase Leaders and the Business Manager, whose collective role is to provide educational leadership in the school and community, by promoting and implementing the school’s philosophy and mission. The successful applicant will show the ability to think strategically, will be skilled in team building, leading and motivating staff, and will possess a high level of operational efficiency, with the overall goal of ensuring excellent educational outcomes for our students. The position will be a full-time renewable contract for an initial two year period, starting in August 2019.

Requirements

The successful applicant will possess all of the following qualities and skills:
• An excellent teacher who secures excellent outcomes for their learners;
• Previous successful school leadership experience in a substantive whole school role;
• The vision and drive to prepare for a future that may not yet be defined;
• A growth mindset, with the desire to promote challenge, inquiry, innovation and reflection, with a commitment to continuous school improvement;
• A strategic outlook, with the courage to take tough decisions when necessary;
• Very high expectations of self and others, with the ability to coach and mentor successfully, creating an atmosphere of mutual trust through collaboration and teamwork;
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ensuring the building of positive relationships with students, staff and parents, and the promotion of the school within the wider community;
• A desire to contribute to development across the whole English Schools Foundation (ESF);
• Exemplary professional qualities.
