Vice Principal

Sheffield Park AcademySheffield

About the Role:

Sheffield Park Academy is delighted to advertise the post of Vice Principal to complement our current Senior Leadership Team. We are seeking high calibre individuals with current Senior Leadership experience who wish to play a key role in the further development of our school.

We are an Ofsted rated ‘Good’ school on a journey to outstanding, with a growing sixth form and a diverse range of students. If you are an existing Assistant Head with exceedingly high expectations, a can-do attitude and a proven track record of raising achievement and effecting cultural change at departmental, year group or whole school level then you are encouraged to apply. Working alongside an experienced senior team and a new Principal with a track record of rapid school improvement in a variety of contexts, this would suit an ambitious individual with a determination to achieve headship soon. We are seeking a strong individual who will establish a true presence within the academy and become a focal point of the existing Senior Leadership team.

As Vice Principal you will join a team responsible for leading the academy in its school improvement priorities. You will work with the Principal to help drive forward improvements to develop the academy staff, students and the wider community. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership of driving up standards at the academy, ensuring an outstanding provision and outcome for every student. The specific responsibilities of the role would be dependent on the skill set of the successful candidate but experience of raising attainment at KS4 and 5 and self -evaluation would be particularly welcome.

You will do this whilst ensuring that the academy maintains an inclusive ethos where everyone can aspire, grow, learn and achieve together. The academy will make these continued improvements with a commitment to raising standards through excellence in teaching and learning.

We serve a community that deserves the very best. 53% of our children attract 'ever6 Pupil Premium'. We see these factors as being motivators rather than excuses and hold the highest expectations of every pupil. We believe that we can achieve so much more in the future and hope that you can join us and play a key role in enhancing the life chances of our children. Our GCSE outcomes in 2020 showed a positive progress 8 score for students and we are determined to build on this success in the forthcoming year.

This will require a senior leader who will have:

  • A proven track record of success in your current remit, evidenced by outstanding student outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to lead effectively and work as part of a team.
  • A strategic vision and proven ability to make things happen.
  • High quality organisational and management skills.
  • Personal qualities to inspire, motivate, support and challenge others.
  • The ability to raise the aspirations of our students and staff.

In return you will:

  • Have the chance to shape the future of the academy.
  • Be given opportunities to develop both professionally and personally.
  • Be able to use your creative ability to make the academy’s vision a reality.

If you have the drive and vision to help take us to the next level, then we look forward to hearing from you. This post is for a September 2021 start or prior to the end of this academic year if an earlier

release is possible from your current role. Conversations with the Principal are welcomed and would be treated in confidence.

Schools within United Learning work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. By collecting expertise and combining resources, we help to make the tough job of teaching a little easier. With a shared curriculum and lesson plans from around the group available to all, our teachers have strong foundations to lead the engaging, rounded education our children deserve. Our intranet site, United Hub, is just one example of how we share this resource and communicate across sites, helping to simplify processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance. We reward our staff: with wide career opportunities – between Primary and Secondary, Academy and Independent – better pay, benefits, and ultimately the satisfaction of helping every child at each of our schools to succeed and reach their full potential.

United Learning

Sheffield Park Academy is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.
