Job overview
We are seeking to appoint a Vice Principal to join Avon Valley College in January 2018. We are looking for an individual with a strong track record of performance, who relishes the opportunity to lead in all areas of education, and is driven by establishing a culture of pupil and staff happiness, high achievement, safety and personal growth.
Salisbury Plain Academies wants its Leaders to focus on what they do best - improving the performance of staff, pupils and the academy’s reach in the local community. The day-to-day operational management of the school is the responsibility of the Director of Business and Finance supported by the Core Services Team - they are responsible for budget management, estates management, line management of operational support staff and ICT at the Academy.
Avon Valley College is the one secondary school within our multi-academy trust. It is much valued by its community which itself reflects the social mix of the locality in that military families make up a significant number of our schools’ populations. As part of the rebasing of troops from Germany, all local schools will see a rise in population between now and 2020 and because Avon Valley will see numbers go from just under 600 now to 1,150-1,200 by 2019-2020, Wiltshire Council is in the process of a phased building programme to bring new classrooms to Avon Valley College by 2018-2019. The Trust intends that phased programme to continue in order to refresh and renew the entire estate.
