Ealing is looking for a qualified and experienced teacher to join their committed and skilled team of specialist teachers in the Ealing Virtual School for the purpose of promoting the education of Ealing’s Looked After Children and care leavers.

You will have:

  • Substantial experience of teaching in a mainstream setting
  • A keen eye on progress and attainment measures to improve outcomes
  • An understanding of the social, emotional and attachment needs of children
  • Experience of working with a range of other agencies
  • The skill to communicate well and to relate effectively to others, especially children and young people, carers and professional colleagues.

The role:

The main duties of the role are to raise attainment and to promote the best possible educational outcomes for all Looked After Children.

The successful candidate will contribute to this work by:

  • Ensuring that appropriate provision is in place within statutory timeframes
  • Ensuring that LAC pupils are both engaging with the curriculum offered in school and also with extra-curricular activity and support
  • Directly delivering  and/or facilitating  additional teaching support for students and groups of students to accelerate progress and support them  to build confidence as learners
  • Developing the academic and personal, social, emotional and practical skills needed to self-motivate and achieve potential
  • Monitoring attendance and engagement and liaising with schools and SWs to ensure that PEPS are completed in a timely and effective way and that the Pupil Premium Grant is used effectively to improve educational outcomes.
  • Contributing to the wider work of the team e.g. LAC Education Awards, Weekly Study Support, Holiday educational enrichment programmes.
