Job overview

Job Title: Visiting Music Teacher (Brass)

Location: Sedbergh School & Casterton, Sedbergh Prep School

Responsible to: Director of Music

Salary: Hourly paid

Sedbergh School and Casterton, Sedbergh Prep School are seeking an experienced, committed and outstanding Visiting Teacher of Brass to join our thriving department in September 2021, working across both schools.

The role extends across the two schools, meaning that the successful candidate will be equally as happy teaching post-G8 pupils as they are getting young children started on their first musical steps. It is anticipated that the latter will form an integral part of the role, initially, with a post-Covid rebuild of instrumentalists among the department’s top priorities.

This is an exciting time to join a dynamic and busy department, working with the Director of Music and Head of Music (Prep) to deliver 1:1 lessons and lead/support our ensembles.

The role is required for September 2021.

For further information on the vacancy, please download the 'Applicant Info Pack'.

If you are interested in being a part of our team, please complete the Sedbergh School teaching application form in full. A copy of the application form may be downloaded from this advert.

Completed application forms should be returned to: hradmin@sedberghschool.org .

The closing date for applications will be 5.00pm, Friday 4th June 2021.

Shortlisted candidates will then be required to attend an interview at Sedbergh and/or Casterton in the week commencing Monday 21st June 2021.

Please note: early application is advised as an appointment will be made upon finding a suitable candidate.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Sedbergh School is committed to safeguarding & protecting the welfare of children. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and The Disclosure and Barring Service.

About Sedbergh School

The magnificent location of Sedbergh means pupils can enjoy school life in a safe, healthy and dynamic environment. The opportunities for outdoor activities are almost unlimited - from a walk in the hills to mountain biking, or the calm of fishing to the challenge of caving. While academic study is central for every pupil the experiences of a Sedberghian are not confined to the classroom .

Sedbergh is a School where pupils are presented  with a huge range of opportunity. It is a School which expects its pupils to seize the opportunity or, better, create the opportunity. It is our firm belief that it is much better to try something and fail rather than avoiding something because of the fear of failing. This culture ultimately breeds a positive attitude and greatly increases the likelihood of success.
