Job overview

The Gainsborough Academy is an inclusive and aspirational Academy based in the Lincolnshire town of Gainsborough, easily accessible from the M18, M180 and A1 motorway networks.  We occupy a state of the art building with extensive grounds, learning and recreational facilities which are designed to inspire pupils and staff alike. At the Gainsborough Academy we are passionate about education and have a belief that all students regardless of their ability and background, deserve choice and opportunity.

We are working with Wickerlsey Partnership Trust.  An outstanding Trust based in Rotherham.

We are currently looking to appoint a Vocational Alternative Provision Tutor to work as part of the Alternative Provision Team to support students who present with challenging behaviour.

The students require tuition with a range of subjects but the ability to offer a skills based subject would be an advantage such as Construction, Mechanics, Hair and Beauty etc.  The alternative provision work with students who have been excluded from mainstream provision and offer a wide range of subjects to suit all learners.

Qualified Teacher Status is not essential however previous experience of lesson delivery is desirable.

We are looking for someone who has a flexible, open-minded attitude to working and will go the extra mile to engage students who are disengaged with their education.  For this post, you will be required to work on your own initiative and as part of a team, to build positive rapport with the students and teaching staff, so that they engage with their education as much as possible.

A detailed Job Description is provided that details the scope and responsibilities of the roles.  A Person Specification is also available which states the required skills and experience of candidates.

Further information can be found on www.thegainsboroughacademy.org.uk along with an application form.   To discuss the post please contact Nikki Whitton, PA to Principal on 01427 619341 or e-mail Nikki.whitton@thegainsboroughacademy.org.uk.  All completed application forms are to be returned to Nikki Whitton.

The closing date for the above post is Wednesday 14th November 2018 at 4.00 pm

The Gainsborough Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  The successful candidate will be required to complete a Disclosure Barring Service form in line with Section 115 of the Police Act 1997.
