White Rose Maths Year 1 Place Value to 10 Planning with CP

Hello, Here are simple slides/resources and a plan for 7 sessions of maths to start the Autumn term in Year 1. The plan is based on the small steps from White Rose Maths. We block out mornings for maths and English, which is why there are only 7 sessions, despite there being more objectives in the small steps. The plan has linked provision activities that could be put out during the sessions. The plan works in line with an approach which blocks out a whole morning for maths and the teacher works with small groups. Meanwhile the rest of the class access planned continuous provision, which is enhanced with the linked provision on the planning. I am aware that every class and school is different in regards to the transition to Year 1 from EYFS, however hopefully this could help as a starting point. The White Rose Maths slides should be used to enhance the slides provided and the pictorial representations to 10 can be found online. Hope it helps!

Year 1 White Rose Maths - Fact families

(0)
Hi, Here are some activities that could be useful for teaching finding a fact family. I used them over three days and did some practical building activities using counters to support finding the facts. Activity 1 - Completed as a team - Use the 8 addition and subtraction facts (two families) ask children to match the statements to a picture to each one e.g 4 + 2 = 6, 2 + 4 = 6 – draw out to lead to a fact family – which ones are the same? Can you group them? Activity 2 - Completed independently - Sort facts that match the picture similar to activity 1 and stick in book. Independent activity 1 and 2 - A scaffolded sheet with an image and part-part whole to complete the missing addition and subtraction facts . Hope they are helpful! Many thanks!

Introducing part-whole Year 1 WRM Addition and Subtraction

Hi, Here is a lesson that can be used to introduce part-part whole model to Year 1 (first lesson of WRM). It uses the structure suggested by the NCETM support for teaching addition and subtraction and breaks down the progress into small steps. The overall lesson could be broken down into small sessions over a couple of days and spread the carousal of activities over the couple of days. The worksheet activities have the STEM sentences at the top. Hope it is useful :)
