Analysis of Amanda Gorman’s poems ‘The Hill We Climb’ and ‘The Miracle of Morning’ along with a comparison to Maya Angelou’s poem ‘On the Pulse of Morning’. I taught this lesson to my Year 11 class and had excellent results. They were engaged and found the poems to be helpful revision.

How does Amanda Gorman present the theme of unity in her poem ‘The Miracle of Morning’?

In both ‘The Miracle of Morning’ and ‘On the Pulse of Morning’ the speakers describe feelings of being oppressed. What are the similarities and the differences in the ways the speakers present those feelings?
