Looking for a fun way to review CVC words? In need for an activity to work on those beginning letter sound skills?

These secret word cards are great for practicing beginning sounds AND reading short vowel CVC words at the same time!

Challenge your students with these vibrant cards. They will ask for more!

It is a fun activity for the end of the year in Kindergarten or beginning of the year in 1st grade.

What is included:

➤ 2 secret code key pages
➤ 1 page with all 5 short vowels (each one on a colorful oval button)
➤ 5 pages of images (for all 100 words) to sort or match
➤ 100 CVC words (20 for each short vowel) 4 on each page
➤ Letter tiles in 4 different fonts (vowels on separate pages) - 5 pages for each font
➤ 1 working sheet
➤ 2 recording sheets for 5 or 10 words (2 on 1 page)

How to use these cards?

Just laminate the cards and have students use dry erase markers to write the letter for each sign, then write them on their recording sheet when they’re all done. They can use the working sheet too. They can place a secret word card in the box provided, then crack the code. Once done, they can find the matching picture and then write the word 3 times on the lines provided.

You can also use bottle caps (water bottle caps work well) with letters written on them to put in the boxes, alphabet magnets, letter manipulative or the letter tiles in this pack (4 different fonts)!
