Mi personalidad - Card Game Bundle

Mi personalidad - Card Game Bundle

This game is a version of the classic I-Have-Who-Has game. This game is a way for the students to practice asking for and giving basic personal information (name, nationality, age, birthday, siblings, pets, hobbies, physical and character traits etc). There is a beginner version (with answer prompts) and an intermediate version (with clues). Print the document one-sided, laminate it and cut out the cards. Distribute all the cards randomly to the students. Select a student to begin by reading his card out loud and then putting it down. The other students listen attentively to each question, answer it if they have the answer card and then they read the next question. The game is over when all the cards are down. It is a great game to practice the newly taught vocabulary, as well as speaking and listening skills.

Spanish Teaching Resources. School Subjects PowerPoint

Spanish Teaching Resources. School Subjects PowerPoint

Spanish PowerPoint introducing school subjects. The first slides have the phrase and a picture. Use this to elicit the pronunciation, the English and to drill. To break up the presentation (there is a lot of vocab!) there is then a slide with pictures of the new vocabulary thus far. This can be used for a Beat the Teacher game, which the students love! The teacher points to a picture and says a word. If it is the correct word the students all repeat it. If it’s the wrong word the students must stay absolutely silent. If they do, they win 1 point. If not, the teacher gets 1 point. Most points wins! Then more vocabulary is introduced followed by graded questioning. Then there are "what's missing?" slides. The final slide could be used to play a revision Beat The Teacher game during the next lesson.

Qué haces durante el recreo? (What do you do during break time?)

Qué haces durante el recreo? (What do you do during break time?)

This is a resource material aimed at KS3 or KS4 students studying Spanish. It is designed to support them when speaking and writing a text on the topic: My school, specifically the activities they do during their break time. The first 3 documents are aimed at Speaking skills, the third and fourth documents are the vocabulary introduced, one with pictures, and the last 3 are aimed at the Writing skills. The 6th document is an exercise that could be used as a Starter (you will need to check if you have introduced the vocabulary needed). The 7th document is the answers to the exercise. Finally the last document is the support and Example, to help students to produce their own text. With the Speaking activity, it is a game based on "battleships". In the actual worksheet are the instructions for the game, but when I did it, I explained it using the "Example" (provided) and I run through the first go with the help of one able student, to make sure all students knew what they had to do. Also there is a "Dialogue example" for students who need extra support with it. It took a bit of time explaining, but when they knew what to do, they were off enjoying it, and the mos important: they were SPEAKING IN SPANISH. I set a time limit of 5 minutes, the winner is the one that gets the more correct guesses within the time. The Writing task is a document with all the information and structures they should include in their text. It also includes an "Example" of the text they should produce. This was a very good resource, as I had some students writing in excess of 70 words within the task. They are advised not to copy the sentences from the example, but modify it to create their own.

School Signs in Spanish

School Signs in Spanish

Putting up Spanish language signs around your school is a great way to help not only the current students in your program, but also to promote your language to other students. Many of you may teach in schools with some students that ONLY speak Spanish and this is a great way to support their acquisition of English too! This set of forty-five easy to read signs will allow you to label all of the most important places in and outside of your school building. There are a wide variety of signs to fit the needs of both primary and secondary teachers. Each sign promotes the language with a "Learn Spanish" header so that students are aware that they are looking at words in Spanish. Also included on each sign is the Spanish word for a location in the school and the English Equivalent. Many of the signs include multiple versions in case you have a preference for certain words or terms when there are several. If you don't want to place the signs yourself, having your students review the places in the school by placing the signs themselves is a great beginning of the school year activity.
