It's good to talk

It's good to talk

A bundle of resources to promote student talking and listening in a range of structured ways. They help students reflect on their values and are also ideal for promoting discussion and tolerance of different views. Discussion points (Vols 1 &2): Two resources to encourage purposeful talk by giving a focus for a discussion. Each set has 80 different stimuli and is a power point and a word document. Moral dilemmas: A resource to encourage purposeful talk and help students to reflect on their values. A power point with 40 different dilemmas which are also supplied in a word document. ‘Top 3’s’: A deceptively simple focus for discussion. Students are given a category such as tennis players and, in their group, have to come up a top three. Not only does this boost discussion and team work but it makes them think about judgements- what criteria are they going to use? Find someone who: Requires the students talk to each other. They have to find someone who can do a particular task or who likes something etc
