Thinking Skills: Read Think Sort Logic Puzzles

Thinking Skills: Read Think Sort Logic Puzzles

This simple pack of Logic Puzzles For Key Stage 1 is a fun and engaging way to stimulate logical thinking in early learners. Suitable for 5-7 year olds (depending on ability) these logic puzzles can be used as early finisher tasks. The pack contains 28 logic puzzles in total. Students need to be able to judge, analyse and think critically in order to participate fully in a democratic and technological society. This can be achieved if the teacher recognises the value of thinking skills and provides opportunities for the thinking processes to be modelled and developed. Learning to apply logical reasoning through logic puzzles can stimulate the brain, as well as aid memory and concentration. CHALLENGE SET NOTES: Students should always cut out the pictures first, then read the information. This is to avoid being influenced by the random position the pictures have been placed in on the worksheet - the position of the pictures is irrelevant to the information given. After the initial reading, students should place the pictures in the correct positions first. They should then read again for the other criteria. Some inferences must be made. This set MUST be printed in colour. CONTENT • Cover/Contents/Teacher Notes • Sets 1-4: 5 puzzles each (total = 20) • Challenge set for advanced ability thinkers (total = 8) • Ink-saving Copy • Answer Keys • TOU/Credits PAGE COUNT: 98 Teacher’s Toolkit Thinking Skills

Suitable for SEN, Early Years, Primary, Preschoolers. 24 worksheets in total (18 suitable for lower abilities, 12 for middle and 18 suitable for higher abilities). As an extension higher ability pupils should be challenged to make their own worksheet - what objects will they choose and can they estimate which will be heaviest and lightest, then weigh the objects and check if their estimate was correct? 18 worksheets for lower abilities- 6 for identifying which is heavier and lighter (using balancing scales place one of the objects one side and the other object at the opposite side of the scales, then see which side moves down showing the heaviest object). 12 worksheets for lower and middle abilities to use balancing scales to compare 2 everyday items, then use photos to cut out, stick and glue, or if able to write they can write their answer in the correct column (non standard). 6 worksheets for higher abilities to use scales to weigh and record the weight of objects in grams, then to identify which one was heaviest and which was lightest (standard). They can also use the 12 worksheets using counters and cubes to weigh the objects. To make it harder get them to estimate the number first, before checking how close they were.

Mindset Matters - Developing independent, resilient and self regualting learners!

Mindset Matters - Developing independent, resilient and self regualting learners!

This is an outstanding resource used to develop a growth mindset within children of all ages. It helps them to celebrate challenges and the progress they make as a result. The challenge board allows each child to reflect on their learning and choose one area they find challenging which they would like to grow in so that it becomes a strength. These can be very specific like: ’ My personal challenge is … using the column method to add 3 digit numbers’. The children then have a section to write how they plan to overcome this challenge (usually practise and positive thinking). The challenge board can be updated as frequently as needed - the aim is that once a child has overcome a challenge they get to write it out on their progress board, this helps them to celebrate their learning and over the year see how many areas they have grown in. I laminate the challenge board so the children can write on it with a whiteboard pen and rub off easily.

This Growth Mindset activity: Building Bridges or simply Bridges is a Japanese logic game originally called “Hashiwokakero” These puzzles will hook both you and your students in and wanting to do more. On each visually stunning puzzle you are given a number of islands where you need to join these islands with bridges. These puzzles are designed to improve your students spatial awareness. This version is slightly easier than my other version and is a great option of your students have never played these types of puzzles. Reasons why solving Building Bridges Puzzles are good for your students It sharpens your critical thinking skills It improves our problem solving skills It helps us in multi-tasking thinking skills It helps stay mentally fit All you need to do is decide if you want color or black and white as both are included. Literacy for SEN, Early Years, Primary, Reception, Preschoolers

Ideal for teacher training or NQT a literacy bundle that has a range of worksheets for SEN, Early Years, Reception, Primary and Preschoolers. Includes differentiated worksheets for students who are at the pre-writing stage, up to writing independently. Has worksheets for alphabet A-Z for matching, phonics and practicing writing and spelling. Includes differentiated comprehension from 12 nursery rhymes to 12 differentiated photos commenting on items in photos (3 sets of each for lower, middle and higher abilities). With the speaking, listening and writing we ask carers to email or let us know a couple of things that their child did at the weekend, so that we are able to prompt children or get other children to ask appropriate questions. We also check children's listening by asking 'Who went shopping, who visited family, who was ill, who walked the dog, where did they go, what did they buy' etc. before the students write what they did with help, by copying from a white board or working independently. No prep needed - just cutting and gluing with the children. You may need whiteboards and pens to help the children with spelling.
